Today UPS delivers one of the packages of X-braces to a V-8 board member and the package is empty. EMPTY!!!! He ordered three sets of braces, and nothing was in the tube! Of coarse I will send three more sets out, and UPS rep said that they will "contact me by the end of the business day tomorrow"
My wife had a small mail box size package(jewelry) from QVC delivered last summer. It had been neatly opened, the contents removed, and put it our mail slot. After reporting it to the post office our friendly mail lady rang our door bell and had words with my wife!! Can anyone say unemployment?!!!!:blast:
What are you gonna do, you could merge UPS with FedEx but all you'd get is FedUp. FedEx lost s set of seats that I sent. Now how do you loose a package that large? Ted
Here is some useful info for all shipping. Dennis Wheeler and myself ship a lot of parts and have had nothing but trouble with UPS. Dennis even lost a 71 N25 bumper. What a pain in the ass trying to get them to pay on a lost item. They, UPS, have a warehouse outside of Atlanta, that is full of lost, misdirected, damaged packages. It is cheaper for them to pay the damage/lost fees than bother with going through the thousands of "items" in the warehouse. Every month, they take bids on the "lot" of items in Atlanta and you get what you find, it is an all or none proposition. So, if you have filed a lost/damage item claim, expect it to take 60-90 days. What I do now is ship all my items by USPS Parcel Post. Going well past 200 so far and not one problem. Plus, for me, the post office is only 1 mile from my house. The UPS station is 10 miles and there is usually one person working there and a long line. In my opinion, UPS and FedEx are best suited for large commercial accounts. Maybe someone else has a better experience with UPS and/or FedEx. I have not tried FedEx for the simple reason their office is also about 10 miles away. Good Luck!
Icing on the cake This afternoon I get my mail, and find the UPS bill. It has an additional charge for "Additional shipping charges". After waiting on hold for 15 minutes on hold, they say that I must have shipped it in something other than cardboard. Yes, I shipped it in a plastic tube because you would bend the stuff in a cardboard tube. So they charged me an extra $5.00 for each item that I shipped.:eek2: My fault, for not reading the 40 pages of shipping instructionsou: Sounds like I should be shipping USPS from now on.
i know a parts vendor who makes DVD'S at his other job during the week. he told me that one day they loaded 50 million ? DVD'S into 26 semi trucks, each truckload was worth $ 40,000.00 in freight charges to UPS. with corporate accounts like that, they just dont care about us little guys. they need to divert some of that money from the 88 car and put it toward improving shipping. henry
I had a set of 1972 455 heads that I hand delivered to Mike Phillips at AMP Once the heads were done the big brown truck got them. After a week I still only had one head! Several weeks later I had to send the one head back to Mike so he could match it up with another one. By the time I had a set of heads for my car three months had past. So WHAT CAN BROWN DO FOR YOU??? Mark Sheppard 69 GS Calif. 2- 72 skylarks 82 olds Cutlass cruiser with 350 Buick
Re: Icing on the cake Sorry Rick. I guess I should have given you one more tip for your repro parts. For shipping go USPS all the way. That is the only way I send stuff unless requested otherwise by the recipient. o No: UPS delivered me a box of AC24 oil filters and left them in a puddle of water. I didn't find them until the next day. Needless to say I filed a claim. Been 30 days. They told me, today as a matter of fact, that they settle all claims with the SHIPPER. So I should contact him instead. What a drag. GO USPS!!!
I just recieved my 9th shipment from USPS/CanadaPost intact. Number 10 was completely paid for by insurance. UPS? No way.
Years ago (1986) they delivered a printer to me. It's amazing how they can make a square box roll down the steps of the truck and onto pavement. The printer still works though!
