Time has come for the 60's Stock,Super Stock tribute.
Nose in the air, vintage lettering.
Time for a fun car that doesn't have to have matching numbers, cast iron everything, heck I might throw a set of headers on it:eek2:

I'll post a pics of a Catalina with the stance I'm going to try for, then a pic of the new candidate.

Afew years ago, this is what I had in mind when we were talking about Modified Production:TU:

They're all subject to leave at anytime, all someone has to do is "hit" the number when making an offer. Heck this GP could be for sale, and I don't even pick it up until tomorrow afternoon.

Thats cool Tom. You just got to love those 60's Pontiacs. My Dad's side of the family always had Pontiac's, not sure how I ended up in a Buick. My favorites are the '61, '62, '63 Catalina's, '63 Grand Prix's and Tempest. My Dad had a new '63 Tempest with a 326-4, 3 speed manual. His last new Pontiac was a '70 Catalina with a 455 HO that he special ordered, he tried to get a 4 speed in it and they wouldn't do it. The Grand Prix is a good choice, every body likes to suck up the Tempest and Catalina's for racing. The Grand Prix's are still reasonably priced. Good Luck and looking forward to progress pics.

I did find one picture of a 421 GP "stocker"

I'm going to need some help thinking of a name with a taste of Indian heritage to put on the quarters.
The white letter tires are coming off ASAP, getting a pair of tall, narrow BFG Silvertown white walls up front, some spring jacks, and in the rear I'm thinking a pair of chrome steel wheels with blackwall slicks.

No problem. Glad to help. I always look forward to seeing the progress pictures of your cars. Amazing work. The '71 t-37 is my favorite and would give my left . . . you know, to own that car. If I could part with my Stage car, I would be all over that. Maybe I'll play the powerball this week:pray:

I don't know where you find all these cars at a good price, but more power to you for it.

I've been eye balling a few cars too. I want something that I don't mind straying from stock on, also something that I can try doing some patch panels on and paint. (trying major body work is code for don't want to spend a lot). There is a 68 GS close by that would take too much money to bring back to a stock GS400, there is a 69 Skylark, and there is a 62 Falcon all within 2 1/2 to 3 hours of me that I'm thinking about. I'm going to check out the 68 GS this weekend (I hope) but I have to say the 62 Falcon is sounding pretty good. It's got a fairly clean body in need of some floor repair and I think a little quarter repair. Cheap car, cheap parts. If it doesn't turn out great, I think I could get my money back plus a little. If it turns out good, I'm thinking of a 351, an econoline front end, an 9" rear end, and go to the track!

Good luck with the Falcon. Fastest car or scariest ride i remember was in a 71 boss 351 mustang 4spd. Ford had so many variant engines I'd have to say, go with the 351 if it was the same as in the Boss. You'll be looking at the sky when you launch off a standing start.

Mike, I know the Boss 351 well. And I have a undying respect for it, but the 351 he needs to use is the windsor. The Boss was a cleveland engine and it had very interesting heads. The 4bbl version had BBC size valves and the boss used solid cam, screw in rocker arms and ports that could swallow a tennis ball. BUt now that we are in the 21st century technology has sent that old Boss to the cornfield. The Windsor has product support from both the after market and from Ford. Ford even has a coule variations of the Windsor block available so you can go big. 454 inch small block Fords are now possible. I can't even think of how many heads they have available. How about a 385 series ( 429-460) now that would make the car run and give it some olds chool props since they came out in 69 in the Thunderbird.
I say build whatever strikes your fancy and the interest in old school straight axle cars is very strong. Do we ever outgrow anything?

    How about-

    Warpath

Big Wampum (You'll likely need big wampum to build it)

    Tomahawk

    The "Powwow" Pontiac
