So the coach put me in for the big win... I jumped up off the "bench" and tripped on my shoelaces. "Ya big lug; go hit the showers!". Yeah... so on the bench, Ive been describing my new '64 Special DeLuxe with a Fireball V6 and a 3 on da' tree. Sumpthin' Special is getting a 455 and a Super T-10 for some playground fun, HOWEVER, I cant find a 455 flywheel, short of buying new for a billet, NHRA cert'd etc etc for 400.00. Will ANYTHING else work? SBBs are out. I'd be interested in a used one that needs surfacing or even a ring gear. Any ideas are appreciated! PM me here if ya wanna keep it secret. What a mid point profound problem! ws
Just had this same conversation with another member. 4 speed parts are getting harder and harder to find. Especially the big block stuff. Someone on here has one Im sure. Weather or not they want to part with it is another story.
So do ya wanna try for a two-fer from T/A? They really seem to be the only supplier for a FW. Even Scummit or JAGS says N/A... I dont get what can be so spectacular about the BBB wheel... ws
Post in parts wanted on here. I see them pop up for sale once in a while. I've got a good low mileage stocker inithe green car that I was gonna upgrade to a sfi billet, but I dont have any intentions to mess with that car for a while so I dont know when I'd get to it.
Ive posted all over the place and even ask anyone Ive talked to about the conversion, heads and intake, rear end and even motor mount stuff and its been referred to as the "unicorn" of BBB. If its 3 years down the road, put me in line NOW Puhleez! Thanks and HNY! ws
American Powertrain has them for under $300. I saw them a while back when I was researching hydraulic release bearing kits.
These guys? No gots. ws https://shiftsst.com/ I take that back! https://americanpowertrain.com/c-314156-flywheels-gm-buick-400-455-engines.html
Yep... thats them. $30.00 cheaper than the first link. They just sent me an email for $319.95 plus the truck... Gonna man-up on this one, $285.55! ws
I'm skepical. I recall seeing a TV show, can't remember if it was Phanton Works doing the Legend 5-speed or Lou and Jared doing the 4-speed conversion on Curtis's silver one, but the flywheel they bought which was advertised as being for a BBB did not fit. They ended up going to TA. Worth a shot tho
SKEPTICAL??? Thats an understatement! LOL. These guys "seem" to be the sole manufacturer of just about anybody that sells one new. Ive only been able to find 3 vendors for a new one BTW. I guess it boils down to how many BBB's were delivered with a manual trans? I dont do the numbers game, but I'd bet WAYY less than PMD and OLDs combined. Over the years 75% have probably been turned into Toyota rear ends. What a shame! Still on the look out for a stock iron wheel tho... ws https://americanpowertrain.com/i-84...r-all-buick-engines-400-455-excludes-401.html
Identify a 1967 430 cid Buick engine application that was offered by the factory with a manual transmission.
If it is in fact a big block flywheel, what difference does it make if its on a 430? The flywheel doesn't know what its bolted to. Its worth a phone call
If someone was to change the 43 around it turns into 34 add a 0 get 340.. Get pic's pic's and more pic's
