I am trying to adjust my shift points on my TH350. 1-2 and 2-3 were to soon, about 4750 RPM Swaped ONE lighter spring in. Now 1-2 is to high almost 5500 RPM and 2-3 is unchanged. I am guessing I need to change a spring and weight, but not sure which to do first and what direction. TIA John
First change to lighter weights (One at a time), until you get close to where you want to be RPM wise. Then change the springs (again one at a time) to fine tune, and spread out the 1-2, and 2-3. Usually the 2-3 comes earlier than the 1-2. Spring changes can bring them closer together or further apart. Alot of trial and error here, no one can tell you exactly what combo to use to get a desired result, you just have to try on your own. Time consuming, but the testing is fun!
Thanks Larry, I was hoping you would see this. Yeah, testing is fun, but that 2-3 is hard to do on the street. I will keep you posted. John
Yes it is  What I would do though is take it on the highway at 50-60 MPH, and nail it, wait for the upshift, and note the RPM. That should keep you out of trouble or danger. The 1-2 can be tested on the street. Good Luck.
Gee whiz Larry, that highway stuff can really get you in trouble when your running 2.56 gears, that's between 95 and 100 at 5000 RPMs. Anyway good info, I have the gov kit but have had no idea where to start. Would be nice to go down the track without having to watch the tach. Dave B
 You're right, I was thinking about my 3.42's  I was lucky enough to have a deserted parkway, and was able to check both shifts between exits. :TU:
