Tonight, we were working on getting the gn done, went to swap out axles and put a rear end girdle in, turns out some guy sold us the wrong axles, but thats another story. We got to talking about an ATR sway bar thats coming soon to our garage, and i said, "hey, if we have no use for the stock sway bar, shouldnt it fit the gs? they both have 8.5 inch rear ends!" Marty and our friend Patrick said it should, and i tore it off the GN. Turns out the GN has a slightly wider rear, and the holes for the bar are in different places, but we wedged it in and drilled new holes, voila! instant cheap sway bar!! The previous best for the gs has been 8.455 @ 80 in the 1/8th. Thats with 275rwhp 360rwtq, a 2500 stall, 3.73's 26inch tall BFG dr's, boxed uppers and lowers. best 60' being 1.8X. We're taking it racing tomorrow, hopefull the sway bar helps a lot! Just thought id let you all know that a sway bar out of a Gbody WILL work, you just have to drill 2 new holes in the control arms.

Lemme get this straight...the sway bar from a g-body fits the 71 rear end by drilling new mount holes in the control arms???

    Did it help your times?

This is correct, the back holes line up, but the front ones do not.

The car was a few tenths off (.2) when we went to the track, our cars are always slower at that track, we'll see maybe next weekend we can squeeze an 8.2 out of it.
