    Hello everyone,

currently i am running 225/70R14 tires on my standard 14" 1970 ralley rims.

Can I also run 245/60R14 tires or are the too wide for my standard 14" rims?

    Best regards

    Danny

The 245 will fit much better on a 7" wide rim, the 14 X 6 is a bit narrow. Also, the P245/60R-14 is going to be almost an inch shorter than the tires you are currently running. That will alter your speedometer calibration and your final drive gear ratio.

Some will say u can; i say u should not. Why? u are putting to much pressure on the bead ring (shoulder) of the tire & thus increasing the flexing of the sidewall. I run 245R60x 15 on 7" rims. On my old original 14" rims, I ran 225R70 tires with no problems. That is my opinion.

245 width tires need to go on a min. of 6.5" width rim with a preferred rim width of 7" rim & since Buick doesn't have a 6.5, you have to go with a 7". Not only too much pressure on the bead seat, but the will wear in the middle. There are specs for all this published by the TRA, but rule of thumb is optimal rim width should be about 75% of tire width (e.g. 245mm x 75% x 1in/25.4mm = 7.23")
