Not sure if this is the correct forum to pose the question, but in any case, who, or which company produces the best repro GS/GSX rear wing?

    Thanks in advance

I just recently heard a couple very good reviews on The Parts Place repro, good fit and very little prep work to paint. I'll be ordering one soon. Here it is....Spoiler BTW welcome aboard !!Don't forget to show off your ride and post some pics! Your gonna like it here :TU:

    Hi Andy,

Thanks for the prompt reply. I will look into the Parts Place.

Regarding pics of my car...I will as soon as I get the car out of the garage. I bought it in November and had it shipped to my house. It arrived on December 3 and went directly into my garage. No time for photos or even a test drive.

    Cheers
    Randy

Whatever you do don't buy one from Year One, the fit is horrible and had to do a lot of prep work before paint.

The one I got from Poston fits very well and prep was minimal too. Seems like the price wasn't the worst of the bunch either.

Along these lines, I put a wing on the back of my 72GS, but now the trunk is kind of heavy for the standard springs. Do they also have the heavy duty springs available for a trunk with a wing?

Did you reposition the decklid springs?? There is 3 slots for them to be set at.

Good question Mike, I didn't do the installation.. Will have to check it out. I'm sure I read somewhere the springs were different but maybe not.

MG is correct. All you need is there. It must be repositioned to counterbalance the added weight of the wing.

I agree with Mike I believe there was a different set of springs. I cranked mine all the way up and it will hold the lid up but just barely, one little push and down it comes.
    Thanks Rick

That's my problem too Rick. They hold it up, but one little jostle or puff of wind and it comes slamming down. One of these days I'm afraid it's going to hit me in the head.

Can someone with a parts book confirm one way or the other if there are two different springs available? I'm pretty sure the guys that did my car would have set the springs at full load.

The cars that came from the factory with spoilers had heavier gauge spring rods. Not sure where you would find an after market one though. Its possible that another type car might have one that could be modified to work.

Springs are the same. Spring adjustment via different mounting slots is built in to the car. We made a tool to do it easily. You can too.

http://www.buickgsx.net/gsxhome.htm Not sure if they are correct but these guys seem to believe the spring is larger.

    12. The 1970 Buick GSX came with a special trunk tension bar to support the spoiler.

    13. The trunk tension bar was slightly bigger then the standard car (needs to be checked with a micrometer).
