Well.... I've had to press the 70 GS 455 back into regular service since I spun a connecting rod bearing on the 87 Turbo Regal a couple of weeks ago. TR will be down I'm estimating 2-3 months as the engine will need a full rebuild. I'll pull motor and reassemble in my garage after machine work is done and have already spent a few hours removing key pieces for the pull. Almost forgot just how good and how much fun the GS is to drive! I only need to get the AC system looked at since I have no charge right now. AC guy will look at it in a few weeks since he's in the middle of a busy season and I'll probably convert to R 134A. Hope the compressor is good and wonder if the seals are gone since the system was evacuated about 2 yrs ago? AC is more for the children than for me as I can get by without most of the time. On nice sunny days, I can park the GS and be on the Kawasaki so that will be a help too. Especially with gas costs!! Sure hope the trusty GS will help me through this transistion until the TR is back up and running again!

....good luck - it'll be fun !! just dont keep track of fill-up costs :Dou: $2.89/gal of premium here today :blast: :spank:

I had to do that a few years ago too.....my Lincoln Mark VII took a terminal crap so I just started driving the SportWagon. went almost 7 months before I even looked for a new daily ride.

.....'course my A/C was blowin cold enough to chill a 6-pak in under 5 minutes

Thanks for the words of support guys! It will be an adventure, that's for sure! I forgot just how the old GS can turn heads too! Been on the bike the last few days but looks like I may be wet today?

Kurt- I'm very close to putting the H2 engine back together. Need a seal kit first and to steam clean the cylinders and heads. Then on to the carbs and to have frame painted so I can start reassembly one day. PM coming your way on a bike related question.

Nick- I'm kinda hooked on those hairdryers too so probably can't forget about it. Bought an 86 GN new and drove it 12 yrs selling it to buy my GS. Thought I wouldn't miss it but wanted another Turbo car within 6 months. Bought one and this is the first major engine problem I've had with one. 125,000 miles so guess it was time. They (TR's) are very addictive.

Alan- you are correct on not keeping up with gas costs for the BBB! Won't try that but may look at mileage with miles/ gallons.

You have a response, as for getting wet, during the summer I don't care if I get wet, thats why I bought rain gear! as for keeping the Vulcan clean....I wash it every three months weather it needs it or not
Cool deal on the H2, you'll have her ring-dingin' before you know it, it is strange not seeing my H1 in the garage anymore but it went to a good home.
The Regal is treating me well buy man I need another big block car BAAAADDD!!

I wish more people would stop thinking that these cars can't be daily driven. A 455 is a fantastic daily-driver motor - the smile on your face will convince you.
