Hi Peter, I am no expert on these cars but it seems worth checking out. It has the GSX stuff, stripes, hood tach, emblems, spoilers etc. Since the car is yellow, check if it has a Q-Q color code since Saturn Yellow is a GSX only color. I have seen one of these cars in Sweden too, might have a pic somewhere, they are pretty rare in Scandinavia I guess. Which I had one myself......maybe someday.
Forgot the attachment first time Got a litttle more data 1972 BUICK GSX 455 AUTO It's a local hustler that got it for sale, he just searches the net for nice cars and put them on his own site. So if it is worth a second look, my quest will be to find out who REALLY got the car for sale and get some data
Sorry about the color thing, I only had 70 in my head. I looked at the GSX-registry site, www.buickgsx.net, and it seems to be pretty difficult to identify a 71-72 GSX without paperwork.
I found this info on the message board on the GSX-site: Body number should be from 0000001 to 0002000 . Found that to be true about 71 gsx's also. Hope this might help a little.
I also found the original ad Price 13000$ and it says clone Hustler price 18000$ and no mention of clone uzzled: It is never the less a really nice car
As an FYI - - All 1970 factory GSXs can be documented from the GS Historical Society. - All 1972 factory GSXs can be documented from the Sloan Museum - 1971 GSXs need a little help (original paperwork) to be absolutely sure. A low Fisher Body number just means something 'special' was done to the car - it could be anything - buckets in a convertible, a rear spoiler...it doesn't always mean a complete 'GSX' package. :beer
Thanks Marco for your information :TU: . How come you cant verify a 71 GSX through the Sloam Museum too? I am just curious....
Hi Hans - Sloan doesn't have VIN specific information for the 1971 model year (or 1969-prior for that matter), or the second half of the 1970 model year. Maybe the lost microfiche will show up one day - I know many people who are anxiously awaiting...
Just from the picture: -Side stripes are incorrect -Hood stripes are incorrect -Headlight Bezel paintwork is incorrect -Ram Air inlets are painted incorrect All could be explained by a bad paint job on a real GSX, but more probably a clone...
Hi Ken, I have a hard time trying to see what is correct and what isnt. I can see a difference in the hood stripes. The problem is that I have no good picture of a 72 GSX. Can you post one so I might be able to tell the difference?
Hans- Check out the gallery here on Mark Macoubrie's site. http://www.buickgsx.net/gsxhome.htm The paint scheme should be the same between the years. The headlight bezels should be fully painted. The bezel surrounding the ram air inlets should be body color, not black. The side stripes are not shaped correctly. The body color section between the black hood stripes should come to a point. Hope this helps! :TU:
Thanks Ken. I noticed the painting on the hood did not come to point and that there were something wrong with the shape of the stripes along the side. Thanks for filling me in on the other differences. Always nice to get info from the people who knows their stuff :TU: .
Anxiously awaiting won't help. We need some archeologist, tomb raider types working on the 71s. We need Laura Craft!!
