Hotel info is something that Brad and I will be working on late next week for both the BPG Club members and for the GSX Reunion. We are scheduled to meet with the Chamber of Commerce people, track personnel, and talk to various hotels in the area. We are going to discuss many things, including negotiated rates, security, etc, and will update everyone. I don't believe there will be a "preferred hotel" for the GSX reunion, as there are so many cars, but we will see. Duane
Just added 3 more thanks to Mark Macoubrie so that makes 79 confirmed cars. Way to go Mark.:TU: Duane
We have never been to the BPG event before and I saw a list of hotels on the BPG forum. The host hotel (Hampton) is sold out. Just wondering... asking those of you who have been there, which hotel would you feel is the best one to book besides that. We'll leave our truck & trailer at the track so we'll only have our GSX to park. These were listed as having security: Holiday Inn Express Quality Inn Red Roof Inn Courtyard by Marriott Thanks! Paul
We have never been there before either. After reviewing hotel ratings of the recommended hotels, we made our reservations at the Holiday Inn Express. We plan to leave our truck/trailers at the track also and either drive the GSX  to the secured hotel parking or pull it in the trailer for the night.
About the hotels, I have never stayed anywhere except at the host hotel, but the Holiday Inn Express is between the host hotel and the "meet & greet" we have on thursday night. The hotel is on the main drag through town and from what the chamber of commerce people say, the new management is quite nice. Duane
Duane Are there any extra rooms that have been blocked out at the host hotel. I was going to bring my stage 2 iron head x but I would like to stay at the host hotel and take advantage of the security. Thanks Herb
Duane or Brad correct me if I am wrong but I believe the track will have armed guards in place. You may be able to put your car in the trailer at night and drive your tow vehicle to the hotel. That is my plan currently. I also have purhcased a california wheel lock to put on the trailer so it will not disappear. Mark
You are correct, Mark. National Trail Raceway is providing ARMED SECURITY, so the safest place for your auto is at the track. Most of the hotels are providing security, but I am sure they are not "packing". OK, now for the legal disclaimer (shame we have to do this, but it is the 2000's after all)...While we all will do our best to help secure your auto, the BPG or NTR cannot be held responsible for any loss.
How about a GSX only race segment? Surely quite a number of the 83 will want to hit the track. Wouldn't at least 16 would want to go for some runs? It would be awesome to see that many GSXs in action and in the staging lanes. Another never before and probably never again aspect of the meet. Get the cameras out, and some magazine coverage on that one. I'd throw my hat in, although I doubt I'm a good enough driver to win it especially with the variabilities of my 4spd and my old(er) age. Back in the day, I could bang the gears pretty consistently but I'm not so sure about that now...
That is a great idea, would all or some want to make it like a Pure Stock Muscle Car Race plan, cause that's where #14 will go in Michigan September 18-19 Pure Stock Muscle Car Drag Race, Mid-Michigan Motorplex, Stanton,MI
I'm going to be running on the original style polyglass tires if it happens. I'd expect the same from others. The pure stock sounds like a good idea.
Mike, I'm glad you suggested that idea. To race my GSX was one of the reasons I wanted to go. I'm in for the racing. Maybe they'll have a time we can take the X's to the staging lanes for a little racing. Looking forward to seeing you at the reunion. Gary, Just think of the song by Toby Keith that says " I'm not as good as I once was but, I'm as good once as I ever was". So bang through those gears buddy. Can't wait to see you and Sandy "beat the snot" out of her GSX.
Duane- have you heard from Dad yet? (Curtis Roys) he is on the board and I know for a fact that he is scrambling to get his 70 QQ car ready for the event!! 1 more Texas car.....
AWESOME NEWS, I just got the word today that Muscle Car Review will be covering the GSX Reunion. I cannot tell everyone how excited I am to have a class magazine like Muscle Car Review attending the BPG Nationals to cover the GSX Reunion. They also indicated they will mention the event as an upcoming event in the July issue.:beers2: :beers2: :beers2: :beers2: :beers2: :beers2: Mark :3gears:
