Hello, I have searched the FAQ's looking to see if there is an answer to my question, but had no luck (may be a beginner mess-up). I'm trying to find out if there was a color code for the "painted on" black and red stripes on the 1970 GSX ? Thanks
Somewhere in the archive of this board is the formula for the matte finish black for the GSX stripes. Its just adding flattner to gloss black but I can't remember the exact amount per qt. or gallon. Too much will make it Flat Black and thats not correct. I think my paint man used a color called Tomato Red for the red stripe but not sure if its "correct" or not. It looks right when compared to the genuine X's at Bowling Green's event. Check with Duane or Jim (Flynbuick) as either would probably know for sure.
codes I've had these codes written down for a long time on my 70 paint chart page in my book: black= 898-98811 red = 868-97522 check it out and see what you think.
