If you have what you know to be an original 70 tach cable to the hood clip could you post a pic along with some dimensions or the clip taken with a tape measure?

In the meantime, maybe this will be of help. My camera is not the best for closeups. Paul

    Owen and Paul:

    Thanks.

I blew up your pics. I take it that the dimension on the right is 1/8" and is referring to the space between the tines? It appears to be made from one continuous piece of metal that is looped back onto itself . Then then the tines etc were cut out.

Can you spec the diameter of the hole at the top of the space between the tines?

Do you have calipers to measure the thickness of the metal used?

Can you measure the O.D. of the loop at its greatest dimension? (In other words if you looked at it from the side what would be the greatest thickness?)

    jim,

It looks like it was punched out of one piece of metal, then the top bent over.
all the dimensions are 1/16" across the ribbed bottom..when you slide it in to the bottom of the tach connection, the ribbes grab the sides....

Owen Itake it that it does not feel like spring steel? In other words if you bend it, it will take a new shape and not try to resist and return to its original shape?

    jim,

It is very strong, you would need a pier of pliers to bend it.....

After looking at the pics I thought I have seen this somewhere. Then I found one in my parts stash so I am not likely to be making any. But it would not be hard to make one from the pics and dimensions.
