Parked on Decatur Sat. morn. @9:40.Thought spot behind me was too small for a Yugo.Apon my return around 11:00 I noticed scratches on the 6 week old bumper I was finally able to purchase! Noticed cavalier parked 4 INCHES behind me.He also had damage-some old, but I could clearly see where they matched mine. Called cops, waited in 95 degree heat for said cop. HE acted like he did me a favor. Said since no one saw it, if I accuse this guy he could sue. I said so damn what just write your report! HE said he could've done it as there was no red paint on my bumper ou: . Like that's a prerequsite for damage anayway I pointed out the GREENPAINT on hiis. Can you believe this cop couldn't notice the matching damage? So any way kid comes along claims he didn't do it.Now he may not have noticed this lil' brush, I'll give him that-but he refused to notice the remarkabe similarities between our scratches.BTW there was literally 4 inches og space behind my car, about 6 or 7 behind his.Progressive called today and said his damage is older and different AND there is a witness. This witness works across thre street from him and was there when the cop was there. She said NOTHING to me,fiance or the cop at the time. Just worried this was all about her, then she went inside. WTF? This is my damage. It may not look like much, but it took over a year for me to cover my deductable from last years hit-n-run.This bumper was replaced just 2 months ago!!!!
Last one rear clearance Maybe someone here can clean these up a bit. I've been pullin' out my hair just trying to resize these.
You were crazy enough to actually try and park it in the Vieux-Carre, and not expect something bad to happen??? I feel your pain 'bro... It just kills me when other people have no respect for the things you work hard for
I feel your pain too. What I don't get is your insurance company-if they are so sure about the veracity of the other driver and his "witness", can't they compare the two cars and get some conclusion from that also? Luckily it looks like you may be able to polish that stuff out of the bumper. At least it looks that way from the pics. I just got rear-ended, and had the left side of my bumper pushed in-the mini-van slid on slick frozen pavement, and the left side of the bumper absorbed everything. So I got an appraisal, and a new, re-chromed bumper was around $600 or so. Of course you have to find one.
Jason, Man I feel your pain.I am sorry to see that this travesty has befallen you. What do you expect though, since the city ran Pennington off a few years ago,our cops have turned back into the fat lazy non caring slobs they were for the twenty years before Pennington. I do everything I can to keep from going into New Orleans for any reason.Especially down in the Quarter. If I do have to go,I pay the parking fee for the lots.It may cost me more than I like, but I don't have to worry about some punk kid treating my car like he treats his. By the way,I am moving back to the East in about a week.Course I am going to be working two jobs, but if I can find some time, maybe we can hook up at a cruise night.
Just sue the guy and let a jury decide. Cops are not judges and either are insurance agents. Their opinion is mute.
that sucks!!!!!!!!! the problem with small claims court is... even if you win all you get is a judgement. There is nothing you can do if they still dont pay.
Follow the guy home and when no one is looking, bust out a window on his car. It'll teach him a little about owning up.
I'm screwed.. First of all I moved outta NAWLINS for a reason! Drivers and cops ARE a part of it. Normally I don't venture outta Chalmette anymore,(and the north shore is lookin' better and better) but promised Brandy we would go look into buying some art in the qtr. and her a.c. is on the fritz. Trust me after looking at the rear crushed bumper and qtr. damage done (ANOTHER hit-n-run while I played in my dart league)for over a year before being able to fix it really pisses me off now! Man I swear it really makes you not wanna have anything nice!Spoke to my Insurer (geico, freakin' lizard ) they can't see his car being responsible!!! Man everyone I show these pics to can see basically the matching striations on ea. car. Sure he has more, but maybe, just maybe they weren't bad enough to do damage  I mean comon' AM I WRONG?!? 4 agents looked @ the pics and said the same thing. The 15 people I show the pics to can clearly see where my scratches end and his begin    Don't even get me started on this "new witness crap". BTW $361 damage, can't be buffed (friggin' new bumper less than 2 months old), hell I can't even work!!!, so the car is only driven about 20 miles a week.Sorry for ramblin' just so pissed. BTW Case, glad to see you'll be just over the bridge! :3gears:
woulden't they think that type of damage just means he hits other cars often in the same way? how often do you get hit on the pass side bumper when you parallel park? nearly never, unless you park on the left side of the street. but to prove he did it would be difficult. guess next time paint the ends of your chrome bumper so you can leave paint on his car. and chrome dosen't leave paint on another car.
Kase, "our" police department is on the way down again, that's true; but it's not because the citizens "ran off" Pennington. In case you didn't hear, he wanted to be mayor, and the city probably wouldn't be one iota better off with him at the helm than with our illustrious ex-Cox Communications president. Richard is battling his own battles now in Atlanta. Sorry you feel that way about visiting our wonderful city. But since you do, I have to wonder why you're still referring to the NOPD as your own. Jason, you've learned a hard lesson. Unfortunately, that's the risk you take when you park in the Quarter. Since it's one of the top tourist destinations in the USA, you really have to take a defensive posture when parking anything you care about on the streets there. Imagine parallel parking a block away from the Crawfish Festival in Chalmette.... Same deal! Too much traffic, transients, and alcohol.... not conducive to maintaining a pristine ride. Sorry this had to happen.... John
Reminds me that I still owe some sob retribution for doing same to my 71 riv, dented bumper and fender, called the sob up, and at least he admitted it, then said what are you gonna do sue me? Course he told cop and insurance company differant story. Piece of shits like that deserve to die, that's why they made colts, that's also why they made jails. Kill the bastard, that will make me feel better, but probably not you.
yep taking him to court wont do anything, best thing yah could do is follow him home and beat the snot out of him or wait till he parks his car at nite and break his windshield.only satisfaction you will get.take him to court win judgement and he still wont pay.happens all the time. my thoughts Ray ________ EXPERT INSURANCE
