Just broke in my new motor, everything holds up fine  At the end oil pressure was 15psi at idle Time to change the filter, retorque everything and go cruising   Only thing to look into, is a drop in fuelpressure over time, it sorta keept dropping from initial fire and ended up at almost 0 after 20 min. Fuelbowls was full all the time thou. I suspect my reused carter fuelpump, last run at the track with the old motor it bogged, gonna try with my spare original.
Nothing like the feeling of accomplishment. Glad it's going well. Tell us some specifics on the engine.
Motor bought as "running" I never tried it, just tore it apart to check. Cam, rod and main bearings could have been used again, but I decided to redo it all. It had some nice surprises inside. 1. Stage 1 heads 2. Crane cam with matching springs 3. "Old style" 10:1 forged pistons I didn't pay for all that, just payed for a stock engine  Its now Untouched '73 block Untouched '73 Stage 1 heads Untouched B4B Untouched stock exhaust manifolds Crane cam lift .464/.480 Dur. 226/234 @ .050 10:1 forged pistons Mallory converted ignition with Crane advance kit Mighty Demon 850 cfm carb ARP studs and bolts inside I also put in a 2400 rpm stall convertor and in the coming week I'll change the rearend to a 3:42 posi Winter project will be Cleaned up '70 Stage 1 heads (already in the works) Clean up B4B Headers Upgrade fuel system Maybe a Hyfire box Just as a side note. I replaced the motor because the old one didn't pull until it got to 3000 rpm. It turned out to be the timing chain, it had over 1 inch play :jd:
Just got back from my testdrive, it felt GOOD. Pulls strong, no sounds, no leaks, good oilpressure. Stock fuelpump seems to supply enough fuel, but only gives 4 psi. BTW anybody wanna give a guesstimate on hp/torque or 1/4 times/mph. Weighs 3800lbs
