Well my Regal has been firing up fine each morning. 2 Pumps and WAM! She lights great.

I just took a trip into town. Shut off at store, came out 5 mins later. Didn't pump the pedal, turned the key and she wouldn't light. I pumped it twice, still nothing. So I ended up turning the key while pumping and after 6-10 seconds it would light.

The rest of the time in town, I would pump it twice, turn key, have to keep pumping (for 5-10 seconds) and then it would go.

Am I doing something wrong here?! It has a brand new electric choke. I even checked to see if the choke was sticking shut, but it was wide open. I am new to the whole carb/Q-jet (hah..) world.

Also! I was on a fairly long hill, going up, and I stepped on the gas a little to test it out. It bogged for a second and then picked up. Almost like when the secondaries were opening (?). Any ideas?

The only thing that I can think of for that is maybe junk in the gas tank, stirring up and getting air in the lines, or maybe my carb needs a rebuild (it has been at least 3 years).

I have to admit though. As embarrasing as it is, when Im trying to get her to light at the gas pumps, once it does light, the looks I get are priceless. Gotta' love having an old V8 (Even though it is a SBC - but they don't have to know!). :beer

    Well I don't know!

Just took it out again and the thing was fine. Maybe I had bad gas. My tank is now full though, so if there was junk in the tank, it would have settled when before I took it out again. I'll probably end up changing it.

I started it up fine (no pumping - maybe I was flooding it before) and then floored it on the street. No bog at all when the secondaries opened. It shifted into it's last gear at 120 km/h (~75 mph). I didn't go much faster than that. Scared of the small tranny not being able to take it.
