Hey looking for a nice used harmonic balancer that won’t break the bank ! Doing a budget build as best we can lol ! Not looking for a factory 50 year old one as I have plenty !!! Something more modern or recent that’s not gonna come apart on me ! Was tempted to run a nice looking older one but everyone says no way !!! So what have u ? Feel free to text too if he Steve 978-580-7187. Oh yeah 455 motor
I know it’s new but does anyone know of the quality ? Better than a 50 year old one I’m sure but .. building a healthy street motor no necessarily a race car so illl look into them thx ! I know ta makes a stocker type one too no ? I think more than 200 ?
You can get romac for near price range normally. I didnt dig deep for best price http://www.flowtechinduction.com/romac-big-block-buick-balancer-red-series/
If you decide to go with a new one I stock the one from TPP and am also cheaper than they are! We've used a few of these on 400 to 500 hp motors with no issues. https://www.stage1restoration.com/product/harmonic-balancer-455/ $189
So who the hell actually makes these balancers ??everything seems so vague? I get it I could spend 500 on one but don’t want to. See generic balancers with no info ? Paint looks nice but .... ??? Might just run one from 1976 and hope for best ! So a tpp balancer made in Bangladesh ? Who knows ?
You admitted to doing a "budget build" and didn't want to use one that was "old". That leaves the really good - "Made in America" versions or the oversea reproductions. We all know why the " Made in America " versions are usually way more money. I believe these are your choises . . . Really not sure that one made in 1976 is much better than one made in 1970. Both are 40 - 50 years old. Love or hate TPP they've done more for Buicks than any other reproduction company. It sucks most reproduction parts are made overseas but that's the way it is in this day and age. Prices start at $189 and go up from there if you don't want to use one that is $40 + years old. Peace........
On a budget rebuild the point of having your original rebuilt is that re-balancing will not be required. Just make sure that you remove the mallory weights and put them back exactly where they were when you get the part back. If you are using different parts (pistons, rods, ring gear), than don't bother.
