    Rebuilding Harmonic Balancers

This is just a brief note to let you know about:

Buick 455 harmonic balancers are no longer available from GM so the existing ones need to be rebuilt after 25 plus years of service. The elastomeric ring that separates the inner and outer metal ring usually becomes brittle and cracks. Eventually the outer ring will rotate and possibly come off the inner ring which can lead to engine damage! For $99 for the 455 and $70 for the 350, Damper Dudes will rebuild your damper to like new specs. If you do not have a damper to send in, they will charge you a core charge of $30 for the 455 and $25 for the 350. The price of $99 for the 455 is excellent since the new 455 balancers from GM were $85.

    good luck!

    GStage1 Always looking for parts!

Local yard has a 340 engine with damper. I need to know if you need one by Friday, 4-15, 11 pm Eastern. I will be at the yard on Sat. I don't know if the damper is good so consider it a core.

Please email me directly at GStage1@buickperformance.com

    thanks for checking gstage 1

i need the o.d. surface on the balancer that comes in contact with the front cover seal to be smooth and without scratches--mine has some scratches and causes some oil leakage.
    thanks dclouse
