Is this worth the money? Claims it’s for 70 GS455: https://www.ebay.com/itm/2753158268...AbKvL7pQMu&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
Yeah I thought so. Not sure what it actually goes to with an AZ tank. The guys says the tag is lost. Won’t tell me what the passenger tank code is. Besides not original to the 70 GS455 could this be an OK 4-row for a GS455 with A/C?
And that explains why we can’t get radiator isolators retainers for our 4 cores that line up with the holes in the supports…dang.
Yes, I have put 4- cores into Buicks myself. The X-Camino has a 4-core in it. The problem is the thicker radiators make it harder to put the fan shrouds in because it gets so tight. I had a friend do this and it was so tight that the fan shroud actually rubbed a spot through the radiator. If memory serves me correct, I think I “radiused” the cushions to create a little more room in the X-Camino. It’s amazing what you can do with a wizzer wheel and a die grinder. I built the entire X-Camino with those tools plus a welder, grinder, and a couple of ball peen hammers. Plus your regular wrenches etc. Duane
I saw someone say this in another thread here a couple years ago: "Buick engineers didn't design these cooling systems to run hot." I know guys go nuts for 4-cores, aluminum radiators, electric fans, etc...but I'm of the opinion that a fresh re-core, good working water pump, clutch fan, thermostat and shroud will keep you where you need to be. I was out this weekend and it was hot here in MA. My car hovered at 185° the entire 30 mile ride south.
Put a 4 row copper / brass in the Riv and it still had the temp creap going on. Longer I drove... hotter it got. 100 mile drive and she was nearly boiling over. Bought and installed a Dewitts aluminum 2 row and have not had an issue since.
