Are any of you very familiar with both Ad Aware 6 and Win XP? I have a question I need some help, advice on... When I run the Ad Aware 6, I notice that there is upwards of 23 running programs! That seem like too many! What is a 'normal' amount? How do I figure out which of these programs are necessary, and how can I shut the un-needed one's down? Would this make my system 'seem' quicker? What if there are some that I want to be able to keep around, but only start-up and run when needed? Gosh, I hope someone can answer this.. its been bugging me for MONTHS!

That doesn't sound all that unusual. I usually have about 35-38 running on my laptop. If you know what you are doing, you could probably shut a couple down, but without knowing the specifics of your system and how you use it, I couldn't tell you which ones off the bat. The biggest thing you can do to boost performance of WinXP is to put as much RAM in the system as it can take, and to defrag your hard drive OFTEN. - Freed
23 doesn't sound too bad. I have 22 running with XP-pro and I went through and disabled quite a few of the useless services to free up resources.
Get what you want on the screen the hit ctrl+print screen (next to scroll lock) then go into mspaint and go to edit->paste. Then you can save it however you want. As far as the running processes, ad-aware gives me "23" and I've tweaked, changed, and modified everthing I could. (Did you know that windows limits your upload speed but you can change using registry tweaks?)
