I've had people offer to buy my car before, but nobody with the cash on hand to make a serious offer!

There I was, sitting at a Sonic drive-in yesterday, my thoughts a million miles away, waiting on my Wacky-Pack  to arrive, when a Suburban pulls up beside me, and I hear this voice say: "Hey, nice car! You wanna sell it?" It caught me off guard, but I told him that it'd been in the family so long I'd get hurt if I sold it. Then he says "I'll give you #3000 cash for it right now.", and was reaching for his wallet! I laughed, and said "No, but Thank you, really."

We got to talking, and he not only knew it was a Buick, but that it was a '71  . Seems he recently bought a '72 LeSabre convertible, and just got it back from the paint and interior shops, and liked it so much, he wants a hardtop too. :TU: I told him about V8Buick.com and the BPG, and we visited awhile until my lunch arrived and I had to cruise.

Made my day! I'm not sure how much it'd take (or if I even could) for me to sell the 2NABOT, but it sure was nice to get an offer! :bglasses:

When I used to drive the 68 conv. for work, generally not in the best neighborhoods, I had one guy offer me increasingly crazy money for it. I think he got up to $10K (in 1995!)
From the looks of him, I believe he had the cash, if you know what I mean...

I would get those offers too. Usually when I was filling up with 100 octane racing gas at a station located in North Mpls. (Not the best area) and putting up with all the cat calls about my Riviera from the local homeboyz. :bglasses:
My comeback line was always that I wasn't done having my fun with it yet.

And then I would quickly get out of that side of town. :3gears:

I found a note on my Riv a couple months ago that said "DO YOU WANT TO SELL $500.00!!" and then it had a phone number... I wanted to call them back and tell them a thing or two for offering only 500 for it.. ..

I was driving my mopar last summer a few weeks after I got it, and this asian guy on the street said "How much" I said you can't afford it, then he said "Oh yeah" and went to pull out his wallet. But I wasn't selling it at that point since I got it a few weeks back in the summer. Also another guy asked for sale one morning, he said he has a 68 Belvedere he was saying its the same car. And If I ever wanted to sell it for parts I should give him a call
