I was doing some tuning today in prep for the first drive on my new BB and noticed some smoke/steam from the D/S. Looks like anti freeze dripping down on the exhaust from somewhere in the back but I couldn't tell exactly where. Its running good, so do you think a re-torque is in order or do I have bigger things to worry about? The oil looks good, so far......

Are we talking cast iron heads? If so, on Olds motors, after I had the heads off, I'd run it for awhile then loosen and retorque each bolt one at a time. If you do that while the motor is warm and mark each bolt with a dab of paint or something, you'll notice that you'll get almost a 1/2 turn out of them. I hope this helps.

Yeah they're cast. I retorqued after I broke in the cam but had a hard time getting to the back bolts. I'm just hoping I don't have to pull the head. I wish I could see where its coming from :Do No: any other advice out there?

What type of headgaskets did you use?
I used the Detroit gaskets and they failed within 3000 miles. The stamping is off on the coolant passage holes.

Fel-Pro. I really, really don't want to have to do that!!! Change the gasket that is.
