I'm in the process of bolting on the TA Headers.

How the hell do you get the lower bolt between 3-5 and probably 4-6 ?

with my hookers i'm able to get them from the top. the passenger side is pretty easy to slide in front the front, but the driver's sider took some practice.

i'm not sure if the TA's have any difference in tube placement, but you should, if nothing else, be able to crawl under the car from the front and reach between the engine and crossmember to tighten the bolt.

I just put a set of 350 TA headers on about a month and a half ago. The drivers side center bolt took me over an hour alone. I have a 4 speed and the z bar was not in the way.I had just installed the motor and the motor mounts didn't have the bolts in yet so,I removed the driver side mount to gain lots more working room.I also used a 6 point bolt instead of the 12 point since I could get a longer open end wrench up to the bolt and turn it easier. It was a real pain trying to tighten the 12 point since you can only move the wrench about 1/2 -3/4 inch. You should remove the starter and the passenger side wasn't too bad to get at.The oil dipstick will also be fun.I removed mine so it didn't break and I thought it would be bad but,it was real easy to get at.

the starter shouldn't be a problem. i shoved my headers in from the bottom and it didn't obstruct them. i also accessed all bolts but the rear passenger bottom one from the top using 6 points and a small box-end 12pt wrench.

People! People!! It took me 5 minutes or less to get any one bolt! (TA headers)

    The secret.....

Ratchet Wrenches!!!! Yes! for $29.99 and a trip to your local Sears you too can own a set of the most useful wrenches ever made, with the craftsman logo, you know it's quality! And you're header installation will take 1/10 of the time!

I would have drilled a hole in my head if I had to do it with out them. The center bolt you can only get one or two clicks of the racthet at a time, but you never have to take the wrench off. It makes a big difference on all of the bolts.

That bolt between 3-5 Is a Bitch. You just gotta keep working at it. It took me about 45 minutes. Th bolt between 4-6 isn't as bad.

I agree with you on the ratchet wrench but,I didn't have one available at 10 o'clock at night. You can bet the next time I'll use them on it.I now have a 3/8-7/16 one ready to use when necessary.

I was thinking about replacing that one 12 point bolt with an allen head. I have a set of allen wrenches with a rounded end that will let me twist it in on an angle.

Oh well thats a project for another night, the kids ball season started and that takes two nights a week out of my schedule

the ratchet wrenches are worthless for me. they barely even fit on half the bolts...the cheap sets are flat with wide edges on the boxes.

and i can move the 3-5 bolt about 90* at a time. i reach under from the top, cramming my hand between header tubes 1 and 3, grab the end of the wrench and hook the box onto the bolt. turn, rinse, repeat. doesn't take long at all. and the passenger side is an absolute snap, honestly.

more power to you if those ratchet box wrenches help. but they didn't do squat for me. in most cases where i can't use a ratchet, i'm more comfortable with a normal wrench.
