    I need to know if headers off a 73 Riveria(455) would fit a 70 skylark(455)?

The headers that came off the 73 Riv were probably originally made for a Skylark...but they might've been modified to the point that they no longer fit the Skylark..

No one makes or ever made headers to fit a 73 Riv. You said the headers came off a Riviera...

There are multiple companies that make headers for the A body, and people who want headers on their full size cars buy the A body headers and make them fit. (like I did)

I put Skylark headers on my Centurion...and had to really shoehorn them in to make them fit.

I ended up modifying my headers, and keeping my car/crossmember stock, so that I wouldn't have problems if I ever went with a stock setup again.

How do the headers look that are from the Riv?

Perhaps Harry meant exhaust manifolds. If so they may bolt up but I do not think they are the same number.

I think Dave of TA pointed out in a post recently that only custom or a modified existing header will fit a Riv.

That's what I meant on my first post...

I really don't think it's possible to get those headers in a full size 71-76 without some pretty major modifications, either to the car, or the headers. Most people opt to modify the headers. I've tried just bolting them in...doesn't work real well:grin:

And the crossmember humps don't line up...

You'll have trouble with the engine cradle on the (passenger?) side being too high, and you'll have to hammer a flat spot in the primary tube.

A good picture or 3 would help out a lot here..

Harry, if you have pictures of them send them my way:

    A little blurry...

But they look pretty good, as far as being not bent up or dented..

If I was you, I'd probably go for it. They look pretty straight, like they're supposed to.

    Anyone else have any thoughts?

Not to railroad this thread, but it was my understanding that shorties would fit on a Riv without any modification. Correct?

I put TA's full length headers on my 76 Electra with few problems. I had to make a crease (sp) for the shift rod for the tranny and had to make a clearence dent on the pass side. The crossmember was for a single exhaust so i lengthened a 68-72 a-body one about an inch on each side. I pulled the headers off the car and put them on my 71 Skylark with no problems.

I'm under the impression that every car is different with header fitment. Some fit better than others...:Do No: Tough to tell until you get them wedged in.
