I have decided to go with headers on the 70 455 Sport wagon after much research and thirst for HP.

What headers will work on the wagon?

I am new to this and have heard much about shorty headers and stage 2 headers?

We have bad roads here in Alaska due to Permafrost in the ground. Can really play hell on the collectors, I have wasted many. Is their a short header that will work?

    Buickwagon Wagon's Rule!

At first I was going to recommend the M/T Super Scavengers as I've been using them for the last 12 years both in my previous Estate Wagon and now in the Sportwagon. They fit extremely well requiring only slight dimpling on one of the tubes on the passenger side.

But then I read the rest of your post. These are extremly low - granted I have cut 1 1/2 coils from the front springs, but my collector flanges are 3-4" above the ground. Let's just say that there's a nice "flat spot" on the bottom of both collector flanges. Way too low for your roads.

I'd be interested to hear about other options as well.

A friend also runs the MTs, but you need the TA Shorties. I do not think there is another choice other than stock.

    shortys

Do the shortys perform as well as bigger headers? Getting ready to install a set on my 455 GS. Slight eng. mods, but basically stock.

Your probably giving up 10hp going from full length to shorties. I love mine, very well built, good fit, great sound and best of all no loss of ground clearance.
I dyno'd my engine with manifolds and with the shorties and got a 21hp increase with just that change.
