From all I researched, they dont make headers for the 70 Wildcat. I bought some headers from TA Performance with the instruction that a couple of the pipe have to be modified on the drivers side. Has anyone with the 70 Wildcat actually done this? If so did you notice any power gain from the addition of the headers and how much of a pain was it to customize the headers? Leighton
Ta makes the shorties which will yield the same gain on a streeet car with mufflers. thanks already bought the long ones...now trying to find someone to cut and reroute and weld. Maybe TA would let me return for shorties?
I have full headers on my 70 electra the one in my avitar i had to dent one tube on driver side thats it the middle bolt is a:rant: to get in after that its fine just my 2cents Gene:grin:
I'm interested to see how this turns out. Around 1999, I looked at going the header route on my Lesabre. At that time TA said they didn't make headers to fit my car because of the "x cradle" under the engine. The frame was changed in '71 and, from what I remember, the headers are a clean fit for the '71 and up models. This applied for both the small bolck and big blocks... back in '99.
If you have little valve overlap in your cam, shorty headers (or no headers) can yeild about the same HP as long tube headers. If, on the other hand, you have a lot of cam overlap, spend the time and money to get a long tube set to work. That's how the physics works out.
