I have bought a Buick 350-4 & Headers out of a 1971 Skylark, will the headers clear when I install the motor in my 65 Skylark?
I am not going to be selling them either way, unless they totally did not fit in the car. I do not know what brand they are. This is an A-body to A-body swap so I hope every thing will clear, or require very little modification. I have a couple buddies that are pretty handy with pipe benders from building and working on stock cars and know that they can retool mine if need be.
thats why i'm looking to get a used set... to cut up to fit the chassis we have. if your wondering, its a 2200lb(actually less with a 350) skyhawk that has a 2x4 front frame. have to start cutting at the flange and move the whole header outside the frame, like a street rod header. if i dont find a set, i will have to cut up my hookers from my '77. john
headers according to ta and poston the 350 headers are designed for the 68 and newer chassis and will not clear in the earlier a-body cars . i think the 350 sits lower and the frame is narrower . if anyone has a different idea let me know because i'm lookin' also . the left manifold is very close to the steering column etc on the left , pretty good room on the right side . del
I have a possible solution, what if a guy was to buy a set of headers meant to fit a 65 Chevell SB , and cut the brackets off, then make new headers fit the Buick 350 brackets that I have from the old set ? Would this not work? You can get a cheap set of Headers from Summit for $120 that fit the 64 and up A-body. Any thoughts?????????????????o No:
