headlight bucket springs

Anybody know what color the headlight bucket springs are supposed to be on a 72 GS??? All mine there is no color, were they bare metal???

Actually I do remember it being discussed but I could not find the thread. perhaps it was deleted with the hack one time??

Not sure about the GS, but my 70 'Lark's are rust colored
I think I saw a fresh set once, they appeared to be bare metal. I think there might have been a spot of colored paint (yellow?) somewhere - like a mark to tell what springs are for what.

 

I suspect they were dark gray phosphate and oil which does go to rust color if not retreated.
