What kind of headliner should a 66 Electra have? The one thats in the car currently looks strange. Its not a conventional style fabric headliner with the bows. Looks more like a modern style hard carboard with ribs that press in a track. Its hard to explain, but its unlike anything Ive seen in other Buicks. I though at first it might be some sort of aftermarket headliner, but after looking at it closer Im not sure.

    custom interior headliner-

Jason-this is found in 'custom' interior big Buicks of this vintage. I have this setup in cats and electras and they are not the easiest thing to deal with. The panels are a cardboard with a f'locked' type material covering. The bows are a clear plastic covered with the same material. These bows snap onto a steel bracing to hold the panels. Each panel is a different shape as well as most of the bow lengths. Use an old panel for a pattern to cut a new piece of board and find a material to glue down as well as cover the bows. I only pull bows off when they are warm-they get brittle with age. The other approach might be to find the standard 'deluxe' interor car at a boneyard and pull the support rods/shoes and do a conventional headliner-good luck

Luckily theres nothing wrong with the headliner in the car. I was questioning the style used. I thought for sure it was supposed to have the conventional fabric bows. Wow, you learn something new everyday. Thanks for the info! I guess the interior is all original after all!
