3M contact works well IF you are working with a clean surface.
I would recomend contacting an Interior shop, or there are Mobile installers that will replace the head liner. with the same type & color material, some will do in right in your drive. Runs about $125.
You can do it yourself, just buy the material with the foam backing, remove the head liner board, & clean it with a wire brush, lay the material out, shoot 1/2 with glue on bothe fome & Headliner board, then do the other half.
trim the holes for visors & Interior lamps & re install.
Professional can do it in about 1-2 hrs. A Do it yourselfer will take all afternoon. (experience) Pay the $125, and you will be happier.

Rip off all of the old stuff down to the board then buy a piece of fabric and some of that spray glue. That's about as cheap as you can do it.

    See my thread here:

I recently changed the headliner in my truck. Cannot be much different than yours. I pulled the headliner out of the car. Started pulling the old material off. I then used a razor blade and a plastic bondo scraper to scrape off all of the old fuzzy material that was left on it. Make sure you get all of old junk off or the glue will not stick to well. Also, if you use a razor blade, be careful not to damage the headliner board itself. Once youve gotten all the old junk off and are down to a clean board, lay your material out face down beside it. Spray the spray glue on the backing board. Spray a good thick coat. Now spray a light coat of glue on the material. Let it sit for a couple minutes until the glue becomes tacky. Lay the material over the backing and push it to shape and mold it with the lines and contours of the backing board. Once youve gotten it all pushed down and mated to the backing board, I reccomend letting it sit over night, or for a day or two to let the glue dry and set up. After that, flip it over and glue the fabric down around the back sides of the board. Use your razor knife to cut the holes for dome light, ect. Do not cut to much. You can always cut more if you need to, but you can never put material back once youve cut it out. On large holes, I make an X for a cut, then trim whats needed. If its a hole for a screw, such as the visors, I make a small slit big enough for the screw to slip through. It will all be covered up once the visors and dome light are in place, so be careful not to make the holes to big. Also, I used a hot glue gun on the back side, to keep the sides down where the fabric wrapped around the board, just as a backup measure. Once this is done, re-install and enjoy.

Make sure you use HI Temp spray glue, or the first time the sun beats down on your roof with the windows closed you will be doing it all over again. The regular spray glue will let loose at the higher temps reached in a closed car, even here in Wisconsin. Brian

If you don't care about how it looks, once I used those corkscrew thingy's with the clear plastic knob you get in a fabric store to hold slipcovers on furniture......it worked great on my old Ford warwagon  Adhesive won't stick well to the rotten foam and cardboard it's made out of without a lot of work. :bglasses:
