Not sure if this is the correct place to post this however, here goes. I have a 1969 skylark custom a/c car, is there a certain way the heater hoses have to be attached, i.e. to hose to water pump. I know on my 65 Fairlane has a certain way the heater hoses must be routed. When my thermostat open I get a popping noise in my heater core area. Thanks in advance Jaye
If I recall correctly, there IS a little support bracket needed. But I can't recall if the A/C cars need it, or if the NON A/C cars need it. And I was looking for said bracket sometime back for another member on here, but never found one. Anyhow, there is something needed about routing the hoses to minimize vibration transmission through the hoses. I know that there is supposed to be a grommet-like rubber thing around the water control valve...
There is a routing map in the assembly manual. Also. the lengths of the hoses are listed and specific. I don't have a '69 manual to help you, but,I'm sure plenty of people on this forum can and will chime in to help.
Thanks for the information I have a service manual however, I was looking for something that tells the direction of water flow, I found a lengthy explanation of how water flows from the manifold returning through the water pump. Thanks
The hoses are different sizes. Match the hose size to the fittings at each end and you will be OK. Keep the hose alignment flat across the AC bracket and don't let one hose lay on top of the other. Lou
Not sure of you are trying to go correct by the book, but the assembly manual shows how long the heater hoses are supposed to be.
