Turbo purists dont read any further. This is the start of my V8 regal project. I'm starting with a rust free Alabama car. The motor, and everything else is out and I'm just about ready to remove the body from the chassis. The plan, which keeps changing, is to build a pro street/touring/racing car. I know it will have a 2 tone pearl white and black paint job (see pic on signature) and one power adder, either nitrous, or a blower if my son has his way. It will be powered by a 455 w/400 trans. and a 9 inch rear. The plan keeps leaning more towards a street/ show car. If I go that route, it will have an air-ride suspension. This wont happen overnight, but thats cool. Im actually having fun building this one. Its a good stress reliever from work, where there are always deadlines. Here are some pictures so far, with many more to come.. enjoy!
Dennis, I really enjoyed our conversation tonight. That's really a great looking Buick you've got there. Just remember that you're the one that has to be satisfied when it's done. Please keep me in mind about the tranny we discussed. Sorry to hear that the other one isn't available any longer, but I'm still looking for one. Good luck, Thom Kleckner aka: 59Willys455 574-936-7378 (h) 574-276-2718 (wife's cell) tkleck59@yahoo.com
Nice,I've got a 82 Limited in Just The same shape looking to put sb 350 buick in, read somtime ago about this swap but no one else seems to recall, had to be here where i saw it,when i test fitted the motor w/tran (350 hydro) with stock 350 motors mounts and stands .everything bolts up except tailshaft points down to far and motor sit up to high in the front using 350 stands ,231 stands do not 350 motors mounts ,looking for suggestions before my brother-in-law gets the gas for the torch
Thanks Thom, I appreciate that. Im pretty excited about the whole project. I wont forget about the transmisssion. Please stay in touch...
My buddy Tony finally made it buy to pick up my old turbo motor this weekend so I got the 455 up on the stand and torn apart. The bearings are toast, all of them. The next step is sending the block out to be checked. It is a 72 block and so our the heads. The crank has been turned once before, according to the notes left on it. Maybe its time for a stroker  we'll see what the machine shop says........
I got the dash and all the wiring out the last couple of days, man there's a lot of crap tied together under there. Next is to the bodyshop to have the firewall smoothed and some custome inner fenders fabbed. Then back here to test fit the motor and trans before painting the engine bay.
Thanks Tyler! My 8 year old son helped me come up with it, he had about 6 different color combo's, we agreed on this one..... I'm excited too, but this is the last one I'll do.... For me that is, he'll have to have something cool to drive too! :Brow: Then theres his twin sister, she likes the GS's though.....
Thats going to be a fun build take your time and do it right your son wll never forget and you won't ethier.
Got to talk to the Air Ride Technologies guys at the Goodguys show this weekend, and ordered the Coolride setup for the rear. I already have the front system which I got off the G-Body site for $200 a few months back. I'll post up some more pics. soon...
