just converted my ignition to hei on my 72 skylark. runs a thousand times better! just a stock unit but its so much better. was gonna use a conversion kit but my distributor was shot. guess my question is how much better would an msd or mallory unit run? also, how much of a difference would better plugs and wires be? any suggestions?

New plugs and a Quality set of wires are always a good idea!:TU:

Couple of suggestions when you can:

*New MSD external coil mounted cap - get rid of in-cap coil.
*New coil - Accel 8140 or 8140C (chrome)
*Crane adjustable vacuum advance - HEI's came with 'smogger' style advance units - you need to be able to adjust yours.

**Re-curving the distributor to match your car, engine, and driving style should get the Most out of your combination! If you're not sure who to send it to, I'd Highly recommend Dave (IgnitionMan). Click here for his site and contact info.

well i am working on my exhaust , the TA headers ran me around 250 i think, you can get some 40 series flomasters of off e bay for about $115. It cost about 200 for 2.5 pipes in atlanta i don't know about you. X pipe should be another $100

    Recurve

I just used a cheap recurve kit. Less than 10 bucks and works great. I used one super light spring and one light spring, while leaving the vacuum advance disconnected.
