What's the best ignition for a 401? Is there an HEI that will fit or does one have to be converted? I have Petronix now and it runs fine most of the time. If I step on it after I've been driving for an hour or so, it'll stumble sometimes but that might not be the ignition. Is there something that will give me noticeably better performance than what I have? Or should I just stick with what I've got? Thanks, Zach
http://www.davessmallbodyheis.com/ The only way to fly. Do a search on this board for "Pertronix" (200 results) and/or "HEI conversion" (58 results) as well. You'll be surprised at how many times this has been discussed on here. The general consensus is... Pertronix - Opinions vary from "complete junk" through "so-so" to "never had a problem" HEI - Opinions don't vary much. Everyone who has one (especially one of Dave's) is extremely happy with the quality, performance, and serviceability (all over the counter parts used). Make sure you especially read his thoughts on Coil selection - very important.
