Hello everyone i'm an old drag racer that found himself owning a buick apolo i've always run SBC but find the lack of parts challenging. Also find the design of the buick impressive so i'm putting it together all I need to get on the track is one L2343 TRW piston 30 over so im on the hunt wish me luck.
There are some Apollo pros here: http://www.v8buick.com/showthread.php?t=59677&highlight=zane http://www.v8buick.com/showthread.php?t=48281&highlight=zane
Thanks for the pros I like the buick it was built in the 80s and has run strong and consistent since. The only thing i'm going to miss is the ability to experiment. Parts i'm finding are hard to locate and expensive. But i've made up my mind i'm a buick guy now.
Welcome! Are you building a 350 or a 455? Start a thread in the engine section and we can help you further. Also start a thread in the parts wanted section to try to find a piston. :TU:
Thanks for the welcome again. Forgive me for taking so long had a long hard day at work. I live in folsom la. And i'm actually building a 350 and a 455. I look forward to chatting in the tec section as soon as I get time. Well as I said had a hard day i'm hitting the sac early so good night all and hope everyone has a good day tomorrow.
What ever you do , pard, dont build your Buick engines ''loose'' like you do Chevy engines... get with Tom Telesco or Jim Lore and the other guys on the board as to how to build them... i am a nailhead man so the other guys are more qualified to direct you than I am... I have built the sbb and the bbb but i strictly stick to stock specs....
Well doc no worries I never build any motor loose that I want to keep. When I was 20 are so I owned a automotive machine shop so I've been building for a while. Encase your talking about the comment I made earlier in this post about experimenting I don't experiment with lower ends for example if I wanted an intake with a small block im not rich by no means so I'd go to the track gather as much data as possible make a intake change and gather data on that one after I had runner velocity reflective signal ect then I'd start welding but as we know parts for a sbc are a dime a dozen not the case here.
BTW, I was born in Shreveport, have folks in Haynsville,Jena, Minden,Little Creek, and Sulphur.....:Brow:
Lawrenceburg, Tn.... hate the cold here,,, but ,,, love the state and the people here... I have had them to literally give me the shirt off their back.... just a whole lot like La. ,,,, warm, friendly people....
