First, I am looking at the OEM style in 1" for a street car. The GM supply has dried up plus I am going to go larger in the front so I'm thinking a 1" bar in the rear would be better. This is for a 67, but the same opinions could apply to 64 to 72. In my research on the net these companies look to have similar parts/prices. The Hellwig says made from "4140 chrome moly spring steel " and the ADDCO "hardened & stress-relieved high carbon steel " and the Hotchkis is "made in the USA/CNC bent"

OK - opinions? who has any of these?

What are you trying to accomplish?

Just a firmer and crisper turning feel? Or be competent in autocross? or....?

A freind has a Hotchkis from the TVS suspension in his 69 cutlass up front. I have a ever so slightly smaller summit bar in the front as well.

My only complaint is that it stiffens up your front end enough to make everything rattle driving over bumps that didnt do that before. Maybe rubber bushings would be better. But the handling feel and the way the steering feels crisp is worth it in my opinion. It wont feel like a "boat" anymore. My van used to handle better than my skylark. But my skylark handles more likea newer mustang now.

As for the rear bar, any aftermarket bar is good. The biggest ones like the hotchkis 1-1/8 or something might be overkill. Very easy to go sideways if you have the torque with this bar.

Just a firmer and crisper turning feel - yup. No autocross for now!

In that case, concentrate on price.

There arent really any sway bars that will harm or make your car feel worse.

    Just buy the cheapest one.

I agree. But in this case it doesnt matter. The factor of safety is high in all cases. In all cases the sway bars are much stronger than factory and all of them are made by fairly reputable brands.
