I have a 71 Skylark that has the 2.56 one legger. Can I just purchase ring and pinion gears for 3.08 or 3.23 and install??

Nope, the 2.56 gears use a two series carrier and the 3.08/3.23 gears use a three series carrier. Now if your the junkyard kinda guy you can find posi carriers there pretty easily, there's a good article about how to do this on the Buick Performance Club site. Look here.

If you are not going to the track and running over 500 hp you will be fine with a spacer too. Just make sure you get a good kit that includes your proper bolts and washers. If you can not find one I have them also. Just trying to be realistic for the people that want to keep a budget and are maybe not wanting to spend more then they have to and go through junk yards hunting done a unit that may or may not be any good. I also sell reconditioned units too. I do not sell used for the purpose of you the customer will be taking the chance and in the end I will look like the bad guy selling garbage. 249.00 3 series reconditioned checked cleaned etc.

Check out ebay monzaz or jdrace.com too.

    Thanks, Jim
