getting ready to install my t/a intake. got the valley pan gasket. what type of silicone should i use for that? is it a pretty easy instalation? this will be my first major mod in my case. it seems simple enough but any other input would be great. thanks yall!

if using a stock valley pan, i coat it with a liberal amount of some kind of spray tack on both sides. i've used the red stuff and the copper stuff, both worked well. i'd definately use aerosol and not brush on sealer, though. lay down some rtv around all the water jackets, and then push the valley pan in until the endges catch. make sure all the ports are lined up, and put some more rtv down on top the pan (water jackets only) to seal to the intake. put some rtv at the corners of the rubber end rails to ensure they don't leak, and set the intake down. torque to 55 ft lbs iirc. use at least two increments, and go from the center out.

oh yeah, for rtv, use the black stuff.

I would avoid the end seals all together. They become brittle and are prone to leaks. Just use black RTV on the front and back of the block.Dont be afraid to lay a nice thick bead down. The spray tack is great for preventing vacumn leaks. Use as directed by David.

i've never heard of the end seals becoming brittle...when i first replaced mine, they were completely fine and didn't leak it all.:Do No:

seems to me that the end seals are a good design, they just need a little insurance. i wouldn't want to have to lay a 1/4" bead of silicone so i could ditch them.

    but to each his own.:beer

huge thread about the end seals recently, think it was in The Bench. Some of the heavyweights chimed in, I think the final verdict (IIRC) was to use the end seals, but also to understand how to use them
