I have a set of TA chrome headers that are getting blued, and stained. I have tried the following:

Blue Away (I swear, spit works better)

    Mothers mag polish

High speed buffer wheel with all different rouges

    Never Dull

What do you guys use? I want to clean them up, but they are stating on the car for the project.

Once "blueing" is present it becomes permanent, from my experience. That's why it's better (one of the reasons, IMHO) to have headers ceramic coated. No "blueing" when coated.

That's pretty much the size of it.. I think you're fighting a losing battle. Have them coated. I have a set od KB chrome headers that turned and never came back, it hurts. :ball:

There is ONE way to keep chrome headers looking new..

Never start the engine. :( I sent my stuff up to a place in Michigan for ceramic coat, they look great, almost chrome like. :Smarty:

I can get their info Monday if you want it, just PM me.

The only way I know to keep new set of chrome headers from blueing is to take an acetelyne torch with the o2 off and soot the inside of the tubes. It acts as an insulation from the heat. If they're used headers your out of luck.

Ehhh - they still look better than painted or rusting. Mine are 9 years old now and still look presentable. They're a little blue here and their but not bad. What does still look great is that shiney chrome collector sticking out under the car.
