There will be an axle code stamping on the outside of the rear end housing that will identify the gear ratio that was in there from factory. Over the years rear ends ae often rebuilt and re-geared so there is no way to knwo what is in there unless you take it appart and count the gears. Another way is to jack up the rear end and compare the driveshaft revolutions vs tire rotations.
