Okay here is my problem,:boring: I am replacing my old Carter Carb on my 66 Nailhead with a Edelbrock 750 CFM Proformer series model # 1407. The question I have is HOW DO I GO ABOUT DOING IT? :Do No: How do I connect the kickdown switch and also Knowing what side of the Vaccum port to use in the front of the carb...and so on and so on........I am in the dark when it comes to Carberation!:jd: So If anyone has one set up on a 66 401 Please let me know how to do it...Edelbrock is of very little help!
Pictures would be great if ya have them............

    Thanks for any help,
    Gratefully ,

Edelbrock (I believe) has its vacuum ports opposite of Qjets...

so ported vac is on the left (looking into the engine compartment) and full vac is on the right.

I am curious, when you get your carb off, measure the openings in your intake. If they are smaller than in the Edelbrock, you could have problems or maybe just reduced airflow. The openings can be enlarged at a machine shop if needed. I have a dual quad manifold and it's openings are just big enuogh for the 600 CFM Edelbrocks that I am going to use.

    Intake openings

    Roger,
I am not to worried about the openings because I have a shop and I can mill them or grind them to the size I need, But I will measure them and get back to you....:TU: As far as I can tell they look just find but I have not measured them with a veneer calipers just yet....:Smarty:
