I have a 1970 electra 225 convertable that belonged to my father. I also have a duaghter starting college. I am considering selling the 225 but have no idea how to determine the value or how to go about selling a car like this.

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

  2. Welcome to the V8Buick board! Feel free to sign at least your first name to your posts, we're a friendly bunch around here!

A good start would be to give us a detailed description of your car:

    Interior condition
    body panels condition (dings/rust/paint)
    mechanical (does it run?)

And a picture is worth a thousand words, if you can post some.

It is in pretty good condition. The interior is great with the exception of the a little fading on the face plate around the intruments due to being a convertable. The body panels are very straight, no rust or dents. The paint looks good from a distance but close inspection shows it getting a little thin. The back bumper has a few dents on the corners.

It's has about 90K miles and runs well and strong. Being high compression it does ping on a hot day if you get into it. I have the owner's manual that recommends 100 octane fuel! It also mentions that an option in 1970 was an 8 track tape player. The manual goes on to say that you can find 8 tracks in your finer music stores.

I will try to get a picture to post. I thought about trying to sell it on ebay but have never used them before. Are there better sites for selling older cars?

    thanks

    Gary,

Can you post a few photos of the car to give us a general impression?
    Thanks :TU:
