Whats up everybody in buick land. Im going to be doing an engine swap soon. Its going to be a 350 in an 83 regal by the way thats a buick 350. I had a question I wanted to just remove the 3.8 and put the 350 in. Now the thing is can I use the same trans. And will I have to move the trans back or foward or does it stay put.Im guessing the trans is a 200r4 if not please correct me. And before anyone asks why Im using the stock trans its not because Im cheap IM broke.

Building up a Regal while broke eh? I've been there. Still kinda am. My 85 Regals first incarnation was with a 73 350 and all else stock. The Buick 350 will bolt in there just fine. No need to move the tranny. I can't identify the tranny without seeing it, But its likely a M250, Th350, or maybe a 200R4. Is it a four speed auto or three?

Anyway, you'll hafta put the V-6 motor mounts on the 350 to fit. Drivers side will probably be busted so plan on a trip to the parts store. Besides that, Its all good. V-6 bracketry fits on the 350. Things like the waterpump and starter interchage too. The V-6 front springs don't like the V-8 much, so plan on changing those. You'll wanna V-8 radiator too. You can shorten the stock fan shroud to work if you don't find the correct V-8 one. Good Luck!

Ah the Wrecker Regal Project. `ol Wagon is 80% wrecker parts.

Your trans is a 350 given an 83. You'll be able to keep the existing x-member and use it as part of your centering jig when you put in the engine. You may want to elongate the slot on the crossmember by .5" but otherwise it's OK. I crammed a 455 in with the original th350 first time out, a 350 should be no problem.

Yes on the TH350. But be warned, the V-6 TH350 has fewer clutches than the V-8 TH350. It'll shift like crappola behind the 350.
