yeah--those guys couldn't even get the size of the 70 Olds motors listed correctly and they somehow think a W31 Cutlass doesn't qualify for their list. For $12 a year though you have to admit it's a heck of a deal for a magazine that has great variety. Always a lot of errors in there but probably no more than some of the other mags. I've always wondered if any of these guys would pay for outside proofing before they went to print. Patton
So now what? What are our cars really worth? The reason why I'm asking is because it's hard to pursuade the insurance companies what these cars are worth. Ever talk to someone who's ignorant? That's the insurance companies. So, I ask the question, what are our cars worth? o No:
I agree with you. That's usually how car prices are established. As for insurance companies,I use Condon and Skelly. They seem to be pretty fair.
$20.000 68 Riv. Peace. Forget all this lists. It will only make your oil/blood pressure raise. Everybody make mistakes. (I bought 91 Mustang convert for my wife ou:  ). As Pglade say, your car is worth what somebody is willing to pay for it. At the moment Chev, Ford & Mopar are "in". I don't really care. I just love my Riv, (as: This is my hobby and I will never get back my investments in money, BUT, I' ll get it back as pure pleasure of owning/driving a car that put a smile on peoples faces as you pass them. I have been offered $20.000 cash for my 68, (which for you US guys might be a lot for a car that for you would be considering a daily driver). NO WAY I am selling. I do not need the money, AND it will be for my 12 year old son, (that I am trying to put in serious training. He still loves Ferrrari, but I am getting there). My Riviera have never been an investment, but I am sure, it soon will be. :TU: Take care of them, PLEASE. Quality never come cheap. All the best, Per. :beer
Per, FERRARIS ROCK, AND I rode in one and am getting a job to wash them at ALGAR FERRARI when I'm 16! But I still love my GS 455, and always think about it. Let your son have fun with it like I am with mine! So, what should my 73 GS 455 go for, that is when it's done? Thanks. Anthony
Lentinello strikes again. What do you expect from the guy who suggested we buy 6 cylinder 67 Baracudas to restore because it's getting too hard to find a V8 one that's affordable... uzzled:
Nothing against the GS Stage 1 convertible, but the reason the GSX is commanding more money is because it is more of an attention getter(visual). As you know, you can easily pick out a GSX in a crowd of cars. But,you are right,Hemmings has got the prices wrong.
Did you see the price guide for Wildcat GS from 64 to 70. I thought that it was only a one year deal....1966???? And....they show the 68, 69 Riv GS and worth more than the 67 Riv GS. Maybe cuz more were junked? Bruce
As mentioned above, that mag is a great value. Excellent feature subjects, many pictures and interviews. Well worth the errors. And, the writers keep harping how undervalued our Buicks are compared to the Chevvys and Mopars. So, mistakes or not, I love to receive each copy.
Ummm... 71GS Convert Stage 1 4spd... 9500 to $36000. I don't know. There were only 9 to begin with. How do you price one of nine? I'd sure like to find one for those prices.
The 'problem' with our cars is that so few change hands on the open market that the true value is hard to establish.
I know it's not good for those of you that want one,and it's good for those of us that have them, but seriously folks, our cars have got to be worth almost as much as the other crop of musclecars out there. Anyone that thinks that our cars can be bought cheap should get their head examined.
