Well........It doesn't look as bad as I thought it might. Heres the story. I added a machined Poston divider intake and one inch spacer (Buzzword is don't even try a divider without a spacer). After that, I had no hood clearance for my air cleaner. I didn't want to try a dropped base cause my car runs best with the K&N unit in place. I still don't have the budget for a nice cowl hood, so this is what I did. The Scoop was a freebie that I believe to be an 82 Mustang unit. I cut the front open and jigsawed a hole slightly larger than the K&N in the hood. All clears great now! Now I know were I'm drawing air is not a ram effect, but it most definetly draws cool air instead of engine compartment air. Matter-of-fact, you can hear that thing shlurping air at idle. It runs very good like this. I drove it home from storage with no filter and the carb about one inch from the hood bracing. It performed really poorly. So until a cowl hood comes my way, this is it. BTW, the fuzzy photos hide my really really bad paint job on it. So.....youns like it?

Just wondering, did you give any thought to having the scoop face the other way, kinda like the cowl induction on the Chevelles?

    Ken,

I tried it backwards, but the rear has a gentle curve that matches the curve of a windshield. So backwards it looked...well....backward. It fits the hood perfect forward. The fresh air and the intake are working well and the car has picked up noticably. Just ask the Challenger that I walked away from in third two nights ago. Last year after hitting third the same car would run even or slightly outrun me. I'm not gonna mess with the scoop thing anymore. Next step is cowl hood for a more effecient air intake. But this set-up will do for now. Plus....it was FREE!!!!!!!

Dunno which is worse? I like it a little wet, like you said it keeps the dust down and cleans the roads up nice. But the long dry spell has made my road hard. My truck no longer makes ruts.
