Spotted while driving to my grandma's house for mother's day. This is literally 60 miles from the nearest post office. Car is about 200 yards off the paved road sitting on a flat tire equipment trailer. The fence was (cut) open, but the meth shack single wide trailer 100 feet away said keep out. I obliged and didn't even leave the comfort of my bench seat. Shame as the car looks clean as can be. I'd be happy to show anyone where it's at. You're on your own once we get to the fence though....
On the right day, if you take your chances, you may be able to trade some 'supplies' for it. Throw in a couple boxes of ammo and you could have some new friends.
Exactly my thoughts, Mark. Like I said, didn't get out of the truck and didn't turn the truck off. Pulled up as far as I was comfortable, snapped the pic, and got the eff out of there.....you just never know when you're that far in the sticks. I only saw 5 other cars driving that road all day.
Got lost once trying to get around closed Hwy 19 in West Virginia when it was a two lane about 40+ years ago in my 1996 Olds 98 with New York plates. Ended up at the end of a dirt road with no way to turn around, facing the "Hatfields or McCoys" didn't ask, who yelling at me. Backed up real fast about 1/2 mile before I could turn around. I was pretty nervous.
"They probably wanted to know where you got that 1996 Olds 40+ years ago". If I think about this real real hard is almost makes sense. Almost. I think....
This is the kind of place with no mailbox. And if they had one, I wouldn't want them to have my number......
Then just go up there and take it! They probably did the same thing a few weeks ago! Just make sure you go early in the morning while they're still sleeping off the last rum jag, and make sure there's no plate on your truck, just hook up and go!
Hahaha....like I said, I'll take you there. Once we get to the fence, I'll drive away and you're on your own
I really, legitimately think Mark Demko hit the nail on the head. Bait. It isn't gangs and whatnot out here. In towns and cities its about the most friendly place you could hope to live. Out there in the woods, though, the movie Deliverance is probably as close an approximation as I could give you guys. You just don't even chance it over a car.
Yep, I still find it odd that a nice old Buick is on a construction trailer in the middle of nowhere so to speak. Stolen then abandoned? Ambush maybe for authorities? Very odd The trailer WITH a flat tire could still roll I'm sure, its a tandem axle with duals, heck the trailer is heavier than the car I bet.
That bad, eh? Then again, I forgot, that's America where everyone has an assault rifle or two within easy access. I guess it's slowly getting that way up here now too; - you can't stray too far off the beaten path, - more so in some areas.
I would go to the county tax accessors office, find out who owns the property as it is public knowledge and contact them. No muss, no fuss, no danger. But then that takes all the intrigue out of it. I did that with a Jeep J20 I saw sitting behind a fence of an abandoned warehouse for a couple of years. It was in really good shape but the guy would not sell it and one day it was gone. Mikey
