Look familiar? Almost like twins? I've never seen a brown dash and carpet with a white interior before, always black. Learn something new everyday I guess. http://www.v8buick.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=37353
I thought someone snuck in and stole my car! I think this one has the saddle interior and white top plus a few more power options. By the way I've now finished detailing the trunk and installed new door weather strip and quarter window weather strips. I don't think it's a stage car either. The Stage 1 emblems are incorrect for the year according to info at buickperformance. It does have the correct 455 steering shaft however so it is definitely a 455 car. Cheers Harvey I hope you stayed way from any houses of "you know what" on your recent trip.
Hi Chris, Yes it has the correct detachable flange on the shaft. I have more pics that I took for TimR, including the engine, that I can email you when I get home. Cheers Harvey
Cool. Twin GS455s. That other one may have "a few more power options" but I reckon you've got the better set up with Black/White interior, N25, 8 track, etc. etc. Great to hear how fast you're going through it and fixing all the little things. Incidentally, you may have found a speed nut loose in the trunk that's for the Stage 1 emblem on the drivers side. Found it loose inside the inner fender a while back. I guess you're saying that the studs on the Stg1 emblems indicate they're reproductions. I wouldn't go so far as to say it's definitely not a Stg1 just because the emblems were replaced. Keep working backwards to the original owner and maybe you can get more evidence one way or the other. At least you know it was a big block. I thought it was interesting not seeing another '71 bittersweet mist GS convertible for sale for so long, and one popped up right after you got yours. Also, check the gas line up around the carb for leaks before you drive it much. Highly recommend for you and everybody else to keep a fire extinguisher in the car. Just got back from the trip to Vietnam. VN money is called Dong, at 15,800 to $1. Cashed in $60 and got nearly a million Dong. I kept my big Dong in my trousers. Bought a compass from a US Navy gunboat and a US Navy brass wall clock from a shop that specialized in war artifacts. We took a boat tour on the Mekong River. If you're interested I can send a few pics.
