There's a GSX in the yard in Fort Worth I've got a phone number ....the guy stopped me while filling up my '70. He said it's his uncle's car, and he won't sell. I offered to help them get it started and on the road to recovery, but he never called me. Yes they are still out there. Dan
Graham, if I bought that car, I'd be out there with a DC-AC converter and a hair-dryer trying to melt it out as fast as possible! hee hee.:Brow:
Fairly good deal!!!! You bought this thing with play money man!! That car is worth at least 8k American as it sits - good for you!
Dan, you ought to call him back and check in. I know where a GSX is also, but same deal; not for sale. Enough that he told us it wouldn't even be worth showing it to us because he didn't want us to get too interested in it. He's been offered 12k for it (needs resto) buy a guy who has been trying to buy it for the last 5 years or something like that. Saturn Yellow and all....:ball:
thats the problem with people they put toooooooooo much junk in thier garage i have a garage not real clutered all thts in it is my 68 sportwagon waiting for some sanding n paint
It's your perspective that's off here. You should be saying to yourself how good it is that it was not turned into tuna cans. These cars have a way of finding their way back to the streets. Maybe not by the current owners, or even the next owner, but eventually someone will get serious and restore it and as long as it's in a garage and not wrapped around chunk light tuna, it's ok in my book. Thrill of the hunt for sure. :TU:
At least you werent mowing your lawn and found the skylark. The zebra grass around my father's driveway gets so tall and thick (espically around where I store my 67 GS) that I have to cut it back to find it every season. Now, for those who want to cringe: www.carsinbarns.com
What is this, Clean out the garage season? :TU: I always "swore", to myself, that "I would NEVER let MY garage look that messy!" and "How could anyone waste a NICE car like that? I would NEVER pile anything on top of MY car!" :Smarty: Yeah, 20 Years later, with ALL the Buick Parts I ever "found, bought, collected, traded for, etc.", I found that I don't have ENOUGH room for all of it, so Last month I made the decision to THROW STUFF AWAY!:ball: I thought I was the ONLY one that "found" a car in the garage (as my '72 GS has been buried for almost 2 Years, under parts, too!). I've been cleaning and organizing my 2 1/2 car garage, NONSTOP, for almost 3 weeks, now! Last Thursday (garbage day) looked like a leftover pile from the GS Nationals, in my driveway, as I got rid of a LOT of "extras" that I wasn't using (Air Cleaners, Dash Pads, Seats, Headlight Bezels, etc.). For as much as I got rid of, I've just replaced all of it, from a few of my other Buick buddies, who were cleaning out their garages, too (I got a '71 GS Hood, Yesterday, and another '70 GS 350 Engine, and a Complete '73 455, 2 extra 455 Cranks, and other parts on the way (like a Stage 2 Cam, and Stage 1 Chrome Valve Covers). As the saying goes "One man's TRASH is another man's TREASURE"! LITERALLY, in this case, as some of my buddies throw parts away, I SAVE them, to use in my engines, cars, displays, etc. I don't know how I MADE space to fit ALL of these parts, AND 2 CARS ('70 and '72 GS) IN the garage! The way I did it, I guess, was that I built Shelves and BOXED all the parts that I have, so now they're all "stackable", and much more organized! :bglasses: Now, I must "renew" my promise that "I will NEVER let my garage become that disorganized AGAIN!" :TU:
