    Hi Bob.....Welcome !!

There are quite a few of us here that specialize in the 68/69 GS / Skylarks excusively......feel free to ask any questions you may have.

First on your purchase list should be a 1968 Chasis service manual - its basically "The Bible" and covers just about every inch of your car complete with exploded view diagrams and wiring charts....repair procedures ...etc.etc.etc.

Here is one on Ebay right now

This is EXACTLY what you want - some people offer copies....get the original as the copies sometimes are poorer quality and unreadable. This one is right around the correct price.

Please feel free to post pictures of your car in the Member Rides section of this board under 68-69 located here

    http://www.v8buick.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=3821

Lastly.....give us some Details !!! What shape is it in, mileage, options.....dont be shy !!

I've had a 68 or 69 in my possession since 1980 and have owned over a dozen over these years......dont know it all, never will - but have learned alot over the years

Welcome to your new home  :TU: :beer

Wow! Thanks Bruce and Shirl, Bruce, Alan, Ken, and Mike. Those pics really help. I can see that I'm missing the GS emblem on the plastic grill, and the grill I have is pretty beat up. I have the same hood as yours Mike, but there are a couple of factory holes in the middle of the hood, for maybe a decorative hood scoop. Did any of them come with a scoop? I will work on getting some pisc on line. I got such a great deal on this car, but I want to do it right, So it's worth what it's worth. By the way, whats the range of value for this car in good shape? The guy showed me 8000.00 in receipts for complete rebuild on the engine, tranny, rearend, and 600.00 in front end parts. He already had new carpet, in the box, new headliner, new trunk liner, all in the box. Most of the chrome in a box, original, I have the GS emblems on the fenders, and one that I think attaches to the 2 chrome pieces running down the trunk lid. Are there any emblems for the inside of the car? I have none if there are any. Again, thanks so much for all of your help.
    Bob.

    Sounds like you stole it!

    Welcome to the Buick Mob.

Low cover charge, but the drinks (fix ups) are expensive.

The 68s didn't have any factory scoops on the hood besides what you see on my car. That's an all original car in the pics with no tampering, and what it would look like as delivered.

  14. Bob, welcome to the V8 board! Sounds like you have a 69 GS hood on your 68. 69 GS hoods have the ram air setup.

Best advice in addition to what was previously said is attend the GS Nationals and the BPG Nationals.

Best move I ever made after buying my car in '88. First, vendors, vendors and more vendors. Try finding buick parts at most car shows. Second, there will be more than one '68 at the shows, the owners of which will most likely be very helpful.

Information on the web is helpful, but nothing quite matches person to person contact.

    Good luck and welcome.

Thanks guys, but thew holes I'm refering to, don't line up with the 69 hood. These are 2 holes, approx. 10" apart, in line with the peak of the hood.????????Any ideas?

68 / 69 Skylarks, depending on optional trim levels, came with a center spear going down the middle of the hood. I dont know the exact munber of mounting studs but it was certainly more than 2.....more like 5 or 6 ???

While '68 GS hoods were not equipped with this spear, the 68 GS hoods are fundamentally identical to 668/69 Special and Skylark hoods.

It is possible that yours was replaced at one time :Do No:
