hello im a new guy and id like to introduce myself. My name is Alex and im 17 and live in Alberta. I have a 70 jeep j2000 gladiator, and it has a v8 buick 350 "dauntless" It has a three speed standard transmission.

I have several questions in particular about this engine.

1- Does anyone know of a rebuild guide for this engine?
2- What are some main and generic tips for a rebuild?
3- What is the original engine block color?
4- Are there many applicable aftermarket parts for it?
5- Is it practical to convert this engine to fuel injected (or is it even possible)?

Thats the end of my questions for now, but i want this engine to be my pride and glory as i am an aspiring mechanic. I want to rebuild it to be rock solid but mainly focusing on increasing fuel economy without power losses, and maybe even increasing the power.

I think the 350 block color is red but im not sure as i owned a 455. While rebuilding expect to snap a few bolts. Practical to convert to fuel injection, yes i suppose if you expect to be doing alot of off roading in it. Although i knoe of some carbs that won't skip or die when upside down. Hope this helps. :TU:

Wheres the body? And is that a goat in the backround?

    SkylarkSteve Hello Michael

All Buick engines from that era were red, I wasn't sure if jeep used the same color but judging by the remnants of paint on the valve cover, it looks like they used red as well. One book that would be useful is the Guide to High Performance Buick Engines written by Steve Dove. It has just about anything you need to know about rebuilding the engine. I remember it being sold by Postons ( www.postonbuick.com ). Other then that for the rebuild, some good advice is to check out the shop you're using and make sure they've worked on Buicks before. There arent as many aftermarket parts as chevys but there are some like headers, intake manifolds, cams etc from postons or TA performance ( www.taperformance.com ). Hope this helps you out.
