Screenshot 2024-04-29 053302.png This is my 1980 High School graduation pic.
No mullet but the hair was long back then.
I did not add the quote, some friends did and I was upset at the time but find it funny now.
If you can't read it, it says

    "Peter Peter The Buick Beater"

Also looking at pics of classmates I can say we really didn't have any brutal fast cars.
One of my best friends rebuilt the 389 in his 66 GTO vert. A .005 hone matched well. He put some goodies on it.
The Auto shop teacher let him do his own thing, he had a gift. He later put that 389 in a 67 GTO vert. It was just a better option as it was a 4 speed with 3:55 gears and front discs.

Another kid bought a strong running 1970 base 400 GTO with like 50,000 miles. In a matter of a couple months he beat that car so hard it lost all power. He even shredded the rear ring gears.

Another kids Father bought him a brand new loaded 1978 Gold WS6 Trans Am. Not the fastest but was pretty and had potential.
Then another kids Father owned a Towing company and he bought him a 71 or 72 383 Road Runner which he promptly put a block of wood under the gas pedal as a governor. I thought it was smart.
I'm trying to think of other cars but can't for now. There were some older kids in town with fast rides but not in school. When we graduated and got older and better jobs thing s changed like usual.
